VINYL WRAP EXPECATIONS

  1. Purpose of This Agreement

The customer acknowledges that vinyl wrap is a cosmetic film installation designed to change, enhance, or protect the appearance of a vehicle’s exterior surface. Vinyl wrap is not paint correction, body work, dent repair, rust repair, clear coat repair, paint restoration, or a permanent replacement for healthy automotive paint.

Vinyl wrap is intended to be installed over stable, properly cured, factory-quality paint with healthy clear coat.

If the vehicle’s paint, clear coat, body panels, trim, or previous repairs are compromised, the final result may be limited by the condition of the surface underneath. In simple terms: vinyl is not magic. It follows the surface it is installed on.

  1. Healthy Clear Coat Requirement

The customer understands and agrees that vinyl wrap film is designed to adhere properly to clean, stable, healthy automotive clear coat.

The customer acknowledges that vinyl wrap is not recommended over:

Peeling clear coat

Oxidized paint

Failing paint

Cracked paint

Rust

Body filler

Poorly repaired panels

Repainted panels with unknown paint quality

Fresh paint that has not fully cured

Rock chips

Deep scratches

Dents

Dings

Hail damage

Previous adhesive residue

Old wrap residue

Cracked plastic

Textured or damaged trim

Areas with poor adhesion

Surfaces that have been previously sanded, buffed through, repainted, repaired, or chemically damaged

If the customer chooses to proceed with vinyl wrap over any compromised surface, the customer accepts that the wrap may not install, bond, lay flat, remove cleanly, or last as expected.

  1. Existing Damage and Surface Condition

The customer acknowledges that J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing is not responsible for pre-existing defects, whether visible or hidden, including but not limited to:

Peeling clear coat

Paint oxidation

Scratches

Chips

Rust

Dents

Dings

Body filler

Poor previous repairs

Repainted panels

Clear coat failure

Sun damage

Chemical damage

Pressure washer damage

Trim damage

Broken clips

Loose emblems

Loose moldings

Cracked plastic

Aftermarket parts

Previous vinyl, PPF, decals, badges, or adhesive residue

The customer understands that vinyl wrap may make some imperfections more visible, especially under gloss, satin, chrome, metallic, color-shift, pearl, or reflective films.

  1. Texture, Paint Defects, and Surface Imperfections

The customer understands that vinyl wrap conforms to the surface underneath. If the paint or body surface has texture, peeling, chips, scratches, dents, sanding marks, orange peel, body filler, oxidation, clear coat failure, or uneven panels, those imperfections may remain visible after installation.

Vinyl wrap does not create a perfectly smooth surface over damaged paint.

If the surface underneath is rough, failing, uneven, or already damaged, the wrap may show texture, distortion, lift points, trapped edges, or uneven reflections.

  1. Wet Sanding, Prep Work, and Compromised Paint

If the customer authorizes J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing to perform wet sanding, adhesive removal, oxidation removal, polishing, paint decontamination, or other prep work before wrap installation, the customer understands that this work is performed to improve installability, not to restore the vehicle to new condition.

The customer acknowledges that wet sanding or prep work on already compromised paint carries risk, including:

Additional clear coat thinning

Exposing weak areas

Making previous damage more visible

Sand-through on edges or high spots

Revealing prior body work

Paint lifting

Clear coat failure

Uneven gloss or texture

J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing is not responsible for damage caused by weak, thin, failing, previously repaired, or compromised paint during reasonable prep or installation procedures.

  1. Panel Gaps, Edges, Seams, and Original Color Visibility

The customer understands that vinyl wrap is a film applied to exterior surfaces and is not the same as a full paint job.

The customer acknowledges that original vehicle color may still be visible in certain areas, including but not limited to:

Door jambs

Panel gaps

Deep recesses

Behind handles

Around emblems

Behind trim

Inside fuel doors

Inside hatch areas

Under weather stripping

Around lights

Around sensors

Inside bumper openings

Tight corners

Areas where film cannot safely tuck or wrap

Large panel gaps, deep body lines, worn panels, damaged trim, or poor panel alignment may make the original color more visible.

The customer understands that seams, relief cuts, inlays, overlays, and visible edges may be necessary for proper installation, durability, and film tension management.

  1. Paint Pull and Removal Risk

The customer understands that vinyl wrap removal may pull paint, clear coat, primer, body filler, or previous repairs from the vehicle.

This risk is significantly higher on:

Repainted panels

Poor previous repairs

Low-quality paint jobs

Old paint

Oxidized paint

Peeling clear coat

Rock-chipped panels

Edges

Bumpers

Plastic panels

Areas with body filler

Areas previously wrapped

Areas previously repaired

Areas exposed to excessive sun or heat

The customer agrees that J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing is not responsible for paint pull, clear coat failure, adhesive staining, or surface damage during installation or removal when caused by pre-existing paint condition, poor adhesion, age, previous repairs, aftermarket paint, failing clear coat, or compromised surfaces.

  1. Film Limitations

The customer understands that vinyl wrap film has limitations and is not indestructible.

Vinyl wrap can be damaged by:

Rock chips

Road debris

Pressure washing too close to edges

Automatic car washes

Harsh chemicals

Solvents

Fuel spills

Improper washing

Aggressive scrubbing

Ice scrapers

Bird droppings left on the surface

Tree sap

Hard water

Excessive heat

Neglect

Improper maintenance

The customer understands that vinyl wrap is a wear item and will age over time depending on film type, color, finish, exposure, maintenance, storage, driving conditions, and climate.

  1. Warranty Limitations

J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing may provide a workmanship warranty only for installation-related issues, subject to inspection.

The workmanship warranty does not cover:

Pre-existing paint or clear coat failure

Paint pull

Rock chips

Road damage

Accident damage

Vandalism

Improper washing

Automatic car washes

Pressure washing damage

Chemical damage

Neglect

Film failure caused by poor surface condition

Film installed over compromised paint

Film installed over rust, peeling clear coat, oxidation, or body damage

Customer-supplied film

Third-party repairs or modifications

Failure to follow aftercare instructions

Failure to return for inspection or follow-up when requested

Manufacturer film warranties, if applicable, are separate from J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing’s workmanship warranty and are subject to the film manufacturer’s terms, exclusions, and approval.

  1. Post-Installation Curing and Inspection

The customer understands that vinyl wrap requires a curing and settling period after installation.

During this time, minor moisture, haze, small bubbles, edge movement, or adhesive marks may appear and may improve as the film settles.

The customer agrees to follow all aftercare instructions provided by J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing.

The customer agrees to return for a post-installation inspection if requested. Failure to return for inspection may void workmanship coverage.

  1. Customer-Supplied Film

If the customer supplies their own vinyl film, the customer acknowledges that J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing cannot guarantee the quality, durability, color consistency, adhesive performance, removability, or warranty coverage of customer-supplied material.

Customer-supplied film is installed at the customer’s risk.

J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing is not responsible for defects, adhesive failure, premature fading, cracking, discoloration, poor removability, or manufacturer issues related to customer-supplied film.

  1. Authorization to Proceed

The customer confirms that they have reviewed the vehicle’s condition with J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing and understands the risks associated with installing vinyl wrap on their vehicle.

The customer authorizes J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing to perform the requested vinyl wrap service and any approved preparation work.

The customer acknowledges that the final result is limited by the condition of the vehicle, the quality of the existing paint, the design of the panels, the selected film, and the physical limitations of vinyl wrap installation.

  1. Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the customer releases and holds harmless J9’s Luxury Auto Detailing, its owners, employees, contractors, installers, and representatives from claims related to:

Pre-existing damage

Paint pull

Clear coat failure

Poor adhesion caused by compromised surfaces

Previously repaired or repainted panels

Film failure caused by improper maintenance

Visible texture from underlying damage

Original color showing in gaps, jambs, seams, edges, or recesses

Removal-related damage caused by weak or compromised paint

Damage caused by customer neglect, misuse, or improper care

This release does not apply to intentional misconduct, willful misconduct, or conduct that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.

  1. Customer Acknowledgment

By signing below, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to this Vinyl Wrap Service Authorization, Expectation Acknowledgment, and Limited Liability Waiver.

The customer understands that vinyl wrap is intended for healthy automotive paint and that installing vinyl over damaged, peeling, oxidized, repainted, or compromised surfaces carries additional risk.
